The Voorheesville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary was organized in 1951.  Its primary purpose is to aid and support the Voorheesville Volunteer Fire Department.  Over the years it has expanded its mission to support the surrounding community and extended fire family.

Members must be over the age of 18 and be part of the immediate family of an active, inactive, or deceased firefighter of the department.

Currently, the Auxiliary has 17 active members including several with over 25 years and some with even 50+ years of service.  Charter member Ethel Smith was instrumental in the organization of the Voorheesville Area Ambulance Service in 1952.  She was named the Albany County Volunteer Firemen's Association Ladies Auxiliary Woman of the Year in 2008 and celebrated 60 years with the VFD Auxiliary in April of 2011.

The Auxiliary is also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Of the Firemen's Association of the State of New York, the Hudson Mohawk Volunteer Firefighters Association Ladies Auxiliary and the Albany County Volunteer Firemen's Association Ladies Auxiliary.  The Auxiliary also co-hosted the Albany County Firemen's Association Conventions in 1987, 1994 and 2002.

The Auxiliary actively contributes to and supports the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, the Salvation Army, Albany County Sheriff's Office Hilltown Christmas Fund, Voorheesville High School Yearbook, New Scotland Food Pantry, 9/11 Fund, Hurricane Irene Relief, Rebuild 123.org and the Firemen's Home of the Firemen's Association of the State of New York, located in Hudson, New York.  The Auxiliary also supports the Albany County Auxiliary Burn Fund, which aids local burn victims and their families, by making a donation every year since the inception of the Fund.

If you are interested in being part of the Auxiliary, come visit us at one of our monthly meetings held at 7:00pm on the first Wednesday of the month at the firehouse.
